CPAT Scholarships
CPAT is proud to again sponsor two scholarships for its youth members. This year, CPAT will award one $1,000 scholarship in each of the following categories:
- High School junior or senior
- Current college or university undergraduate student
Applicant Qualifications
- Must be current CPAT youth member (Not a member? Join TODAY!)
- Must attend/plan to attend a Texas college or university and be registered for a minimum of 12 hours
- Current CPAT and TCPB directors’ children are not eligible
How to Apply
Applicants must submit a typed essay, meeting the following requirements:
- Explain what you believe is a pertinent issue/problem facing corn producers today and ways the industry can overcome the challenge.
- Maximum of 500 words
- Typed in 12 pt., Times New Roman font
- Essay must accompany a completed cover sheet
- Applicants are encouraged to provide a recommendation letter
- All entries must be submitted electronically by 5 p.m. September 14, 2012 or mailed to the CPAT office and postmarked by September 14, 2012
Judging will be based on shown knowledge of subject, as well as grammar, spelling and punctuation.

| Lee True Burson, from Silverton, Texas, was the 2011 college scholarship winner. He is pursuing a degree in animal science at Texas Tech University, with a minor in ag education. CPAT Director Bart Thoreson presented Burson his award in October. | Brian A. Acker, a Nazareth High School Senior, was awarded the 2011 high school scholarship. He plans to attend Clarendon College and pursue a degree in ranch and feedyard management. CPAT President Robert Gordon presented Acker his award at the association's April meeting. |
