Corn Checkoff
Action by Texas corn producers in a referendum completed April 4, 1990, in compliance with the Texas Commodity Checkoff law, established the statewide checkoff assessment-collection on all corn produced in Texas.
The first Texas checkoff program began in 1980 in a seven county area of the Texas High Plains. Farmers, throughout the other 247 counties voted in the April 4, 1990 referendum to extend the program and authority of the Texas Corn Producers Board statewide.
One-half cent ($0.005) per bushel (56 pounds) collection are to be made by the FIRST HANDLER with monthly deposit to the Texas Corn Producers Board.
