The Board
Corn fuels the growth of nations around the world as a food ingredient, a feedstock, a fuel, a fiber, an ingredient in building materials and pharmaceuticals, and much more.
Carl L. King founded the original seven-county Texas Corn Producers Board in 1980, with nine directors serving on the original board. In 1990, the state-wide checkoff program was created to fund the state's corn research, education and promotion. The Board was also expanded to include 15 directors.
Today the Board is headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, and is served by a five-person staff. The Board oversees funding of research, education and promotion to further the corn industry in Texas, and to create better marketing opportunities for Texas producers.
